I managed to mostly finish up the electrical/lighting but then it is back to the road for a quick detour to Custer, SD. Everyone is having a great time but it’ll be good to be home soon and not have to drive for a while.
We drove straight through this time. In the past, we always stopped for the night at the half-way point. The long drive wasn’t too bad; splitting the chore makes things lots easier.
The kids are older also so that probably helps. We also loaded up on library books before leaving so there was plenty to occupy them for the ride.
Tip: check your tires before leaving home… I had been planning on getting new ones soon but with all the time away from home and that Costco didn’t have them on sale yet, I hadn’t gotten around to it. Three hours into the drive, I happened to look at them at a rest stop and some of the fibers were starting to show through the rubber… Back on the road and I said “Ummm… I think we should probably get some new tires…”
Fortunately, we were a few miles from Sioux City and found a Tires Plus. They were able to get us back on the road in about an hour.
